How To Achieve a Beautiful Neck
Do you suffer from lax neck skin or have noticeable bands on your neck? Have you considered various treatment options to optimise the appearance of your neck?
Neck lift surgery may be an option as the aims of neck lift surgery are rejuvenation of the neck by removal of excess lax skin, removal of the fatty tissue under the chin,
creation of an acute cervico-mental angle and management of platysmal bands.
In this article, we at North East Plastic Surgery explain necklift surgery, the concerns it addresses and what to expect.
Necklift Surgery Explained
Necklift surgery is often performed in conjunction with facelift surgery to address skin excess, vertical lines (platysmal bands) and double chins.
Where appropriate, liposuction techniques may be used in combination. It is also performed in patients where the appearance of the neck doesn’t match their facial appearance.
The procedure is performed under general anaesthetic administered by Specialist Anaesthetists in an accredited hospital.Placement of the required incisions are in front of and behind the ears, in addition to incisions under the chin.
The wounds are repaired with both internal dissolving stitches and external stitches which are removed one week after surgery. At the completion of surgery, tapes and dressings are applied which are suited to showering.
Am I A Candidate For Necklift Surgery?
A consultation with a surgeon is the best way to find out if necklift surgery is right for you.
During your consultation, you can discuss treatment options, the degree of surgery required to achieve your aims, potential difficulties,
controversies and the relative merits of various surgical techniques as applicable to you, in conjunction with the extent of surgery which can be safely performed.
It is important that your surgeon is made aware of previous surgery and history of scarring along with any significant medical history including
a tendency for easy bruising and excessive bleeding, deep venous clots, allergies, all prescription and non prescription medications.
These issues are important as they have the potential to affect the surgery, anaesthesia, potential complications and recovery.
It is only at the culmination of the consultation process, after having the opportunity to have questions addressed by the Surgeon, should consent to necklift surgery be given.
